LONDON (IQNA) – On the auspicious occasion of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth anniversary, roses and gift were handed out to shoppers in Blackburn town center in the UK on the weekend.

The annual Milad sees people taking part in a range of activities to commemorate the birth of the Prophet (PBUH).

Volunteers from the 'Ilm City and Sultan Bahu Trust' came together for 'Mawlid in the City' which is part of a national initiative organized by 'As-Siraat'.

The group, made up of children met and spoke to people in the town center during Saturday afternoon.

They spoke to passers-by and also explained the significance of the the celebrations and what it meant to Muslims across the world.

A spokesperson for the groups said: “We were able to express our heartfelt happiness and joy upon the arrival of the best of all creation, the Messenger of Allah by handing out roses and sweets to the wider community regardless of race or religion.

“This event was a great way of showing people of other faiths and no faiths what our religion is all about by spreading the message of peace, love and harmony.”
